Most of us thinks that he or she has a bad memory that can’t even keep important data, we even –oftenly- say that we are blessed with the gift of “forgettness” which is true to an extent, we tend to forget bad memories and unuseful data, we may not even remember a good joke that was said 15 minutes ago.
We build a huge wall based on experiences preventing us from the idea of starting to memorize our holly Quran, some bricks in this wall are: 1- I can never memorize that much. • Have you tried and failed, you’ll never know till you try and I believe you’ll be amazed about what you can really do and never thought you could. 2- Even if I start memorizing now, by the time I finish a part I will forget the part I have memorized before. • This won’t happen, revising what you already memorized on regular basis will give you more confidence in your capabilities. You may get a bit confused when reaching certain aya but you won’t forget what you memorized specially if you recite it in your prayers. 3- I don’t have time. • It’s only 10 minutes at your own pace and space, there are 144 10 minutes/day, use only 1 of these available 144 segments, that’s less than 0.7% of the day. 4- How can I memorize something when i don’t understand what it means? • That’s double benefit, when something seems ambigious for you, you can read it’s tafsir and you’ll be amazed how little you know. 5- I don’t even know how to recite (read correctly) • Just recite as you hear the sheikh’s recitation, very soon you’ll find that you’re reciting by the correct rules without even knowing these rules, moreover, if you have more time you can find here the recitation rules: http://www.al-eman.com/Taguid/taguid.asp |
